​Kimia Hendi, born in Tehran, Iran, studied film directing in Melbourne and Belgium. Both her graduation films, Passage and Inherent, won numerous awards, including The Emerging Australian Director at MIFF. Today, she works and lives as a filmmaker in Brussels. Her films mainly deal with themes such as power structures, women's rights, and identity. Throughout her filmmaking journey, she has had the opportunity to collaborate and take courses with notable filmmakers, including Mehrdad Oskoui and Mohammad Hadadi, as well as the chance to complete an exchange course with The National Film School of Denmark. From 2015 to 2026, Kimia directed, wrote, and produced one feature documentary and three short films. Recently, she had the opportunity to co-produce a short film ahead of its festival run. She is currently developing a new short film about grief and her debut feature-length fiction project about power structure and moral dilemmas.
